You showed very clearly difference in world view between someone who grew up with money and someone who didn't. JJ is a very generous soul and is used to giving things to the people he cares about and Drake is just not used to that.

Yes, poor Drake doesn't quite know how to take JJ's generosity, but as long as it makes JJ happy he'll go along with it and try not to feel guilty about not having the money to splash out on expensive gifts himself.

He does, and he will, he just isn't used to such generosity and it makes him feel guilty that he can't shower JJ with gifts in return. But he'll accept that the giving of gifts makes JJ happy, and if JJ is happy then Drake is happy. It all works out in the end.
