Ianto suffers as much as Jack - in DIFFERENT WAY - WHEN HIS CAPTAIN IS KILLED OR INJURED.JACK REALISES AND IS THANKFUL FOR HIS PRACTICAL COMPASSION

So true. Ianto will always do his best to comfort injured Jack though, and Jack will try to put a brave face on his injuries so Ianto won't worry so much. Not that it works.
