A/N: 250 words, a double drabble and a half.
Some days, time just seemed to drag. Take today, for instance; Dee was stuck working with JJ while Ryo and Drake were testifying in court, and Dee couldn’t remember the last time a morning had passed so slowly. He looked at his watch again; less than five minutes had passed since the last time he checked it. Maybe his watch had stopped. He stared at the hands for a minute, just to be sure they were actually moving. Damn. Still going.
JJ was rambling on about something or other as they walked back to their car after talking with a witness, but Dee wasn’t listening. He’d found that tuning the little guy out made working with him less of a trial; too bad it didn’t make time pass any faster.
Thankfully, after lunch, his and JJ’s partners were back, and the rest of the day fairly flew past for Dee. Before he knew it, the end of shift had arrived and Ryo was shrugging into his coat. It was amazing the difference the right company could make to the passage of time.
“You want to come over for dinner tonight? I thought we could maybe compare witness statements, decide where to go from there. I’ve got beef stew simmering in the slow cooker.”
Dee grinned at his partner; he didn’t need the temptation of Ryo’s cooking to say yes, his partner’s company was all it took. He hoped the evening wouldn’t fly past quite as fast as the afternoon had.
