A/N: This one’s a double drabble.
Bikky loved the way Carol smelled, all sweet and flowery; he’d know her scent anywhere, he just didn’t know what it was called, which was a nuisance since he wanted to get her some of her favourite perfume for her birthday. Girls liked stuff like that, and since he liked it too, that would make it the perfect gift.
Trouble was, he’d been hanging around the perfume counter, sniffing the testers, but none of them were right and now the shop assistant had gone and called security, thinking he was a would-be shoplifter.
“I’m not trying to steal anything!” he protested. “I’ve got money to pay! See?” He pulled a handful of banknotes from his pocket and waved them. “I just can’t find the right perfume. It smells like flowers, but none of these do.” He pointed accusingly at the little spray bottles, as if it was somehow their fault they didn’t smell right.
“Why didn’t you just ask?” the assistant said.
“Because I don’t know what it’s called, but I’ll know it if I smell it,” he explained patiently.
Half an hour later, he had what he wanted. Carol’s delight when she opened her birthday present made everything worthwhile.
