Red Cross Rant
Yesterday I tried to donate blood at the blood-drive thing during school. I figure, "Hey, it's a blood-drive! Let's make a difference and get woozey at the same time!"
I only wanted to help, and c'mon, who doesn't like having a good deed checked off their to-do list for a day?
Anyway, I go in, sit down, I get my finger pricked so they can check my iron level... everything's good.
Then it's the questionnaire. Because of said questionnaire, I can never give blood.
Yes, that's right... NEVER.
All because I answered yes to one question. "Have you ever had sexual contact with another male, even if it was just once?"
What I draw from that question is "Hey, did you ever do stuff with a guy? zOMG, then you have AIDS!"
You know, this has REALLY got me pissed. I flat out refuse to support the Red Cross. I have seen them turn people down for food and money when they really needed it, and I also know they charge the local soup kitchens and charities a few thousand dollars just so they can use their cooled trucks for the food giveaway. I flat out WILL NOT have anything else to do with them - this was the last straw.
