I’m still jet lagged

I arrived back in Boston from Long Beach at 5:30am Friday, and unable to get any sleep on the plane my sleep schedule is still unforgivably wonky. I accidentally slept through most of the daylight hours yesterday, wasting beautiful unseasonal weather reaching near 70 degrees, it was like being back in Cali.

My PSP was great for the trip. I managed to get it homebrew-enabled before I left. I must say that running a game off the memory card with a new extended life battery is nigh unbeatable. 6 hours of Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground during the plane ride over didn’t even knick the battery’s status bar. Dungeon Maker really is a fun game, but I can see how it would get old fast. It’s like a reverse Rogue-like, you make the dungeon yourself. Tedious, but rewarding. It’s enthralling running through your dungeon every day in order to earn money to make it bigger and more luxurious in order to entice more intelligent monsters into it. The reason I got it was because I saw it mentioned on Gamasutra as one of the more under-appreciated titles of the year. I’m really glad I gave it a chance, great game.

I also received LocoRoco for Christmas. It is adorable, especially the way the little guys sing along with the stage music. It really makes me anxious for Patapon!

I had the chance to play a bit of Patapon but the language barrier became too much after a couple of stages. As you play each of the 4 main PSP buttons correspond with a different drum beat and different combinations of beats yield different results on screen. Hitting Pata-Pata-Pata-Pon to the beat makes the little guys march which is the first set you learn, and then Pon-Pon-Pata-Pon made them attack, with I’m sure many more combinations after that. You basically sit there bouncing your head and grinning like an idiot while you play, it’s great! The English version comes out Febuary 26th and with that I can finally play it in depth with all their cute little customizable armor. Can’t wait!

Hope everyone had a happy holidays!
