I'm here!!
This is officially my first post being on the island!
I've woken up the past two days and had to pinch myself to make sure that I'm actually here and that I'm not just dreaming.
Yesterday, I spent the entire day on airplanes, but was greeted with a Sam Adams as soon as I got to the island. The rest of the night was spent eating amazing sushi and meeting clients and important people that I have to remember.
Today, I spent most of the day at the beach for a BBQ and continuing to meet important people that will make my life alot easier on the island. I also met my landlords and got everything situated where I'm staying.
Things I've tried so far:
1. eel sushi
2. curry with bananas and raisins (not as bad as I thought, but not good)
3. saki (Japanese fermented wine)
4. Outdoor shower (at night!! GREAT!).
5. Sam Adams Summer Brew
6. Salted Soy peapods (really good)
This is def an experience... SO different that Michigan. They actually call the mainland America because it feels like its own country over here. This island has everything... it has the real trendy well-to-doers, it has the young college-aged people looking to make some bucks, it even has the red-neck locals that go home to six packs and lottery tickets every night. But overall, beaches are beautiful, the houses are unbelievable, everyone I've meet has been amazing and I have the chance to make as much money as I could ever want. I think things are looking up for me!
