MANY THINGS! The radio truly was epic win on the way to and from work today. There's a guy who sounds like a dirty Mike Skinner, some croonage, some dancey and THE NEXT JEFF BUCKLEY (yeah, I said it)

everyone reminds me of jeff buckley lately )

/avalanche city, /the jezabels, /plan b, music = love: my life is a radio, /deep sea arcade, music = love: new stuff, /big scary, /jeff buckley, /matt corby, /mike skinner

That Plan B track is seriously epic. Makes me picture David Cameron crawling under a table to hide (which is where he should be, really).

I can't get enough of The Heartbreaks:

In some ways they're pretty straight-up Northern three guitar indie but I just adore their lyrical depth and their big sound. I can't wait for a whole album from them (it's out in June I think, and produced in part by Edwyn Collins).

Guilty as charged, lol.

Edwyn Collins wrote two of the best pop songs ever written:

They also recorded in David Grey's house which just... it's like they've cherry picked the indie great and good to work with, and that alone makes me love them. Plus Matt's Tumblr is awesome - he makes great playlists every Friday.

I quite liked Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair, although I was never their biggest fan on record (live I think they're awesome but for some reason it doesn't translate that well for me. But then the reason I was excited by Edwyn + The Heartbreaks is they like that big proper production sound that dates to Phil Spector and Burt Baccarach and The Smiths, so the fast and dirty approach isn't ever going to appeal to me as much unless you're, like, Sonic Youth)

it's like they CANNOT go wrong? Also - David Gray is an UBER love for me. AND I KNOW THOSE SONGS!! I hate when you see a band live or find some awesome acoustic of them on a tv/radio show then they're CRAP on album. So upsetting :(
(ps i've been playing the heartbreaks since i last replied!!)
