Movie Review - The Kings Speech

In a word,
BLOODY BRILLIANT!

Fine, it was two but wow. It was wonderful. I like period pieces, I love true stories or at least, stories based on fact and this was just lovely. Completely deserving of all its BAFTA's including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, Colin Firth's win for Leading Actor, our own Geoffrey Rush for Supporting Actor AND the devine Helena Bonham Carter for Supporting Actress. They all did their jobs superbly.

The only part I really couldn't recognize as worthy was Guy Pearce. To me, he was an ill fit and just... really didn't give much of a wow factor, or maybe that was his job in that case, he did it quite well.

I loved the funny lines that were thrown in, the dry sarcastic wit that the Brit's are known for. The bromance between Lionel and Bertie was fantastic, you really got a feeling for Bertie's past and how rare and real a friendship he forged with Lionel. I did love the little note at the end that not only did Bertie award Lionel a medal of most high honor, they remained friends for the rest of their days.

There were so many scenes I loved, but the thought of the KING swearing his mouth off like this is just absolute win

"Do you know the F word?"
"Fffff Fornication?"
"Oh, Bertie,"
