big (shiny velvet) shoes to fill

aleister crowley aside, nobody really awesome was born on october 12 (the same day as me). (chris wallace and i share a birthday, most unfortunately for me and libras everywhere.) a few cool/important people died on october 12: john denver, robert e. lee, nancy spungen (of "sid & ..." fame), matthew shephard.

my boyfriend's got a cool story about the day of his birth: that very day, jean-paul sartre died. those so inclined (the superstitious, romantic, and/or just plain weird (count me in that last category)) might see some sort of symbolic meaning in this coincidence, a kind of passing-of-the-torch even.

so what famous boon-to-the-world died on october 12th, 1983? why, ernie roth, the grand wizard of wrestling:

funny!, miscellanea
