I'm turning into one of my cats. I'm awake all night and I sleep all day. I've become nocturnal.
This is the fourth night I've been jet-lagged. Sunday night I had already anticipated a restless first night back, but I thought my sleeping pattern was falling into place when I zonked out at 10 the following night That is until I woke up 15 and a half hours later at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. I couldn't get an ounce of sleep Tuesday and Wednesday night until after sunrise, and then I would only groggly wake up around 4PM. It's past 3AM right now and I already know tonight is going to mimic the past two.
It's actually not so bad. I kind of like being awake all night; everybody's asleep so I don't have to be bothered with nagging from my family for 7 hours. Except the only crap to entertain myself with on satellite television are infomercials about cellulite creams and Girls Gone Wild Volume 5465875 DVDs. (I also made a fascinating discovery: MTV actually still plays music videos! You just have to make sure to tune in past 3AM.)
I haven't really made any effort to fix this. So far I've avoided taking any supplements to help me sleep, nor have I tried to force myself to stay awake throughout the day to wear myself out. I'm too g'damn lazy to adjust myself back into American life OR into even the correct freaking time zone. I've got a serious case of repatriation blues, folks.
Somebody slap me.
