I HATTTTTTTTEEEE staying at home, so as long as I can help it, every night is a Saturday night. Although about 90% of the working population would disagree with me, I love Mondays. I have a light four hour teaching schedule and my last class ends at 8PM, an hour earlier than usual. Time is valuable, so every Monday night I like to advantage of the extra hour by going somewhere and doing something. Anything.

The original plan tonight was to meet Yukie and Tuyoshi at Ell's Ditch pub, then pick up Sebastiano (the new Italian chef), and head out to Gaucho, Hikari's beach-side bar. Once we met up at the pub we had to temporarily ditch our plans because our driver Tuyoshi, a man of bad timing, dropped the bad news that he had to go back home before 11PM. BUT!!!! It just so happens that Hiro, the owner of the popular Irish pub, fancies me and luckily he was working and was "just" about to finish his shift. He was more than willing to take us.

Gaucho, despite its ridiculously priced drinks (900Yen/$9 for a freaking pina colada?!!!), has an awesome open air view of the beach. We stayed until closing and then Hiro took us to another beach at Kasado Island, a more secluded beach with absolutely no lights. We all drunkenly stripped down to our bikinis and shorts and swam for a bit. The water was so cold we stopped after our bodies started to feel numb. Swimming in the beach, under the stars at midnight is definitely something I'm going to miss when I go back to Houston. Overall it was a great night, hell, the most fun you could ever possibly have on a Monday night.

...

Tonight I learned just how much Hiro likes me. When I found out he liked me last Thursday, I thought it was just a little petty crush. But last night, through his actions and his words, I think it's a little bit more than that. He paid for our entire 10,000 Yen ($100) tab without flinching. On the way to the beach, a good 20minute drive, he made a comment about the distance, but said he would drive anywhere as long as I'm in the car. When I asked him about his days off from work, he said he would take off anytime I aked him to. When I asked him why he was so quiet, he said he couldn't talk because his heart was beating too fast. When he bumped into his friends at Gaucho, he proudly introduced me to all of them (hopefully I was Karen, his friend, and nothing more). I mean, like.... whoah. WHOOOOOOAHHHHH. Hold up, soldier. Too aggressive, too fast and too much. He asked me to go with him to Hiroshima on Friday to watch a baseball game (something I've always wanted to do in Japan)... and I kind of said yes. Maybe I'll enjoy it or maybe I'll regret it on Saturday, but hey!!! Anything to get out of the house.
