If you're a Filipino who has at least once in your life answered a slum book, you'll know that TMTM means Too Many To Mention, one of the things that make me not proud to be a Filipino. Then again, the Filipino affection for such stupid abbreviations and shortcuts isn't really a cultural thing... Yes, I know I'm just contradicting myself here. On with the blogging.
So much has happened over the weekend. Normally, when something blogworthy happens, it appears in its very own entry but I'm not that anal today. So here we go!
* We have a new dog
We got him last Saturday. He's a 5 month old shih tzu we originally named Sansha, but my dad has renamed Constantine. My friends asked, "Why, does he have a double chin too?" Nah, it's tha hair. I was initially worried that Doggie would kill him in a couple hours, maybe eat the furry thing whole, but Constantine is a feisty little puppy. He barks at Doggie as if to say, "Get out of my house, mongrel!" Poor Doggie! Though Doggie's been good at raising an eyebrow at the youngling and just going about his own business. Good dog.
It's hilarious. We're now afraid that our five month old puppy will attack our five year old dog. Hahahaha ellipsis.
Jacqui just gave him a bath and now he's busy getting dirty again. Ah, what fun.
* The NAMCYA Ballet Competition, Seniors Division
Lucas watched it, I didn't. Niño, my little boy blue, was a competitor and Lucas said he was so proud as Niño had super rocked dancing Basil's variation from Don Quixote - clean double saut de basques and at least four pirouettes with clean endings all the time. Before, this we both believed that it sucked that Nin went over to BM, but now we realize that this was the best thing that could happen to him as he got all his chops back and showed up some people who need major showing up (ahem, I will not elaborate but I'm sure some of you know what I mean).
Backstage, Lucas told Niño that he was soooo good that Lucas was glad he's too old to join the competition. To which Nin said, "Eh, sa yo ko lang naman nakita lahat ng ginawa ko kanina..."
Awww!!! *clutching my heart, even now two days later*
Leopard's Hair pas de deux
Um, that would be Mikah's version of Le Corsair. The pas de deux is a popular ballet showpiece and it is often performed by itself because the rest of the ballet sux is not as interesting as The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. I first danced this in 1991 and performed it again with my other brother Quincy in 1992 at their farewell concert (the boys had been given scholarships to study ballet and academics in the stayts). It fits well with our anniversary concert and we're dancing it OMG exactly a month from now!!!! *boggle*
This competition thing has inspired me and Lucas, so much so that during the general runthrough the next day, we were on ultra electric performance level. Well, there's still something wrong with my ankle so my turns were a bit off, but other than that, I think we brought tears to my Dad's eyes.
I guess I was inspired because Lucas said one of the girls in the competition danced my Corsair variation and Lucas was like, "Bleah, Joelle does that so much better..." Nothing like a little biased nepotism to boost your confidence, huh?
The Itchyworms Live!
A nice Sunday afternoon surprise, we caught the Itchyworms at the mall in our backyard. At first, I thought they were piping in "Beer" through the mall and I was singing along. Then, I was thinking, "It sounds live..." And then, Hey, there they are!!!!
Minor rant: why wasn't anyone moshing in front of the stage? When my sister took a pic of them with her camera phone, she felt quite embarrassed to be so visible. Hehe.
I love the fact that when we went backstage to say hello, it took a while because they had fans getting their autographs. I know they probably have leagues of fans by now, it's just very nice to see for yourself. I don't mind waiting to say hello, when this is the case.
And I want Kelvin's tie. *scheme, plot*
"Mom, it's the girls... you know the 'girls'..."
My friends had a mini-reunion at mon_mon's lola's wake. Great place for a reunion huh? I thought it was a very beautiful wake, with the powerpoint loop of their lola's pics and the very pretty set up of flowers and pictures around the waaaaay beautiful urn. But then, I wasn't there for the sermon, so of course I thought it was perfect.
I haven't seen my friends in the longest time, and yet it's like we see each other everyday as we lapse into how we always are. I guess that's how it is, in general.
Put five ditzes in one car to Alabang and what do you get? A lost car. Then again, I'm not any better than them because when they finally found me - or rather when I finally found them - we got lost to the building where the wake was, too. And then a precious moment being served Taho:
"How many are you?"
"Um... We don't know. We're really bad at math..."
Jewel, you were missed. We talked about your hot kung fu fighters all night.
Marga, I think your parents are going to fly in to see you soon. Hehehe. It was very nice to see them and Patricia and Kawuuuuu! It was like you were there, too. Well, not, but you know what I mean.
Stargazer
My favorite cousin Anne added me on MySpace today. EEEEE!!! I haven't spoken to her in centuries!!!! Yay!!!!
I will not elaborate yet, I still haven't absorbed this particular event and I'm still overwhelmed by the other blog notes I've made today. I'll write about her soon.
Silver is a wonderful prize!
Lucas tells me this morning that Niño won second place in the NAMCYA Ballet Competition!!!! EEEEEEEE!!! I'm so proud!
"If you're so proud, why didn't you even watch?"
"Because if I watch, I might sin..." Okay, that's a joke, I love you Mikah.
But still, CONGRATULATIONS NIN!!! I'm so proud of my Tzigane partner, you have no idea!!!
