Author's Notes: I was introduced to this ship by the wonderful Amy about a month ago, and it's one of my favourites ever now tbh. There is supposed to be a fic that goes with this, but I've been struggling with it, so I figured that I should post this first. Companion fic will be posted later this week, hopefully.

Salazar is a time-traveller, who's inexplicably drawn to every version of Godric there is, or maybe it's the other way around. It breaks his heart to leave every single time, but he can't help it; it's the nature of the unspoken rule.

Despite everything, Salazar is always quite glad to meet Godric, because he lights up Sal's life. He can't help but think about other versions - 2054 Alternate Earth Two Godric, for example, hates movies and is a ridiculous floppy young hipster who denounces commercial enterprises. Nevertheless, Salazar never ever lets the memories overcome him, because Professor Godric was the one who taught him all about fucking carpe diem, and Sal's determined to honour his memory.

Thing is, Salazar is lonely, and he's constantly wondering when he'll be able to settle down with someone he loves and cares for. Thing is, Salazar wants it to be Godric. One that he can call his own and never leave.

Unbeknownst to Salazar, Godric is a time-traveller too. He has a more carefree view of his ~destiny~ and is impatiently trying to figure things out.

Salazar and all of his insecurities upon meeting time-traveller!Godric. He's tired of running, tired of leaving, and just rests with this Godric, for a while, he thinks. It scares Salazar that he doesn't want to leave, and is able not to leave, this version of Godric bloody Gryffindor.
07 : Rise ; Will Dailey
I'm not in love
I do think I have tried
it cost too much
I don't have the money or the time
caused me to fall apart once or twice
what's worse, I kinda like the beautiful mess
in a perfect world, we never came
oh we never left
Salazar chooses to leave, because there is something wrong, and he doesn't believe in anything anymore, except that he'll never stop waiting for Godrics to meet him. He doesn't realise that the bed's empty, and that time-traveller!Godric is already gone.

Everything starts all over again, but I like to think that their story ends with the two time-travellers meeting again and realising that they don't ever have to leave each other anymore.
