Author's Notes: For Challenge #15 at writerverse. Billie is Nate's biological daughter. 'Countdown' is set in the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot band verse, and 'friendship' is a Dead Poets Society AU that I might explore further.

Disclaimer: Based on the fictionalized characters as played by Alexander Skarsgard, PJ Ransone, Stark Sands, and Pawel Szajda in their respective HBO miniseries, not the real people.

Walt/Ray; pirates
Ray yelps when the tip of Walt's wooden sword pokes him in the armpit, and takes advantage of the sudden hesitance to tackle Walt to the floor, his own sword lying forgotten on the bedspread.

Brad/Nate, Billie Fick; firefly
Billie squeals as the dot of light flits around the space of Nate's cupped hands, and Brad thinks that he could probably get used to this.

Brad, Nate; snow
Brad runs across the endless white, paws drumming against the ground until he reaches the man, who stirs briefly to look at him with unfocused eyes green as the grass that ceased to exist when the world ended a few days ago.

Brad, Nate, Walt, Ray; countdown
Walt starts on the drums, beating out a rhythm as the lights go up, and the crowd fucking cheers as Ray and Brad and Nate leap straight into "The Dogs of War".

Nate/Ray; lawyer
They spar in the courtroom and don't hold back, trading objections and accusations almost lazily, and when it's all done, Ray walks over to congratulate Nate and ask him out for coffee in the same breath, feeling a rush of triumph when Nate's grin flashes a yes.

Brad, Nate; order
Brad's shocked for a moment, seething with rage in the next, and he's ready to tell Encino Man not to fuck with him, but then Nate's hand is firmly on his arm and he's looking at Brad with an open face filled with too much, so Brad lets it go and hopes he never gets to see his LT like that ever again.

Nate/Ray; underworld
"Homes, Hades was totally cool," Ray says, grinning when Nate gives him that look, but doesn't stop waxing lyrical about the Disney dude with the awesome head of blue flames, at least until Nate gives up on reading and pulls Ray closer for a kiss.

Brad/Nate, Walt/Ray, Billie Fick; role models
"You two are terrible godfathers," Brad says, when he and Nate return home to find Ray, Walt, and Billie on the couch with spaghetti sauce all over their faces.

Brad/Nate; casino
He plays nice and loses big for charity, but when he gets home, he gets to run his fingers through close-cropped hair and bite down on a stubborn smile, so Nate thinks it's a fair trade, really.

Brad/Nate, Billie Fick; daybreak
He gets up for his run, and stops to kiss Brad and Billie on their foreheads, biting his lip in amusement as his daughter tries to burrow closer into Brad's chest.

Nate; compass
There are no nines and sixes and threes here, just a crowd of faces that have never seen war, and it makes Nate feel like he's a lost drifter, unable to anchor himself to things that were once familiar a lifetime ago.

Eric/Ray; proposition
Eric has Ray pinned to the wall in three seconds flat, fangs dragging across his neck, whispering are you sure and getting a fuck yes motherfucker in reply before he bites down into the warm flesh.

Walt/Ray; cowboys
When Ray says ride me cowboy with Walt straddling his torso, Walt doesn't hesitate to smack his face, which only makes Ray's shit-eating grin grow wider.

Brad, Nate, Walt, Ray; friendship
Brad doesn't get to talk to Nate much before Walt and Ray barge into the room, trading insults with Brad about his stint at summer school, but he tries to include Nate in their conversation about Hellton and study groups as much as possible, and gets a grateful smile in return.

Walt/Ray; giggle
Walt mouths his way along Ray's body, stopping every once in a while to lick at the dark ink on tanned skin, and smirks contentedly when Ray's giggles turn into breathless moans for more.
