A request for Mandana fans
I hope I'm not out of line by posting this request. Mods, please feel free to delete, with my apologies.
As many of us know, Mandana's 40th birthday is coming up (Feb. 26th) and I had an idea I thought I'd post here. A few years back, when Robson Green celebrated his 40th, his official site asked fans to send in cards and letters to the webmaster, who then collected them all and presented them to Robson as a large packet. It was a great way for fans to show their love and support in one big gesture. I wondered if perhaps we could do something similar. (For those of you who aren't aware, roman_machine and I run the MandanaFC.com site.)
Now, I know this is incredibly short notice, but while we had some plans in mind to mark the day, it wasn't until covering that subject again a day ago that we realized the significance! So here's the thing- we'd like to collect as many cards/letters as possible before that day and send them off to her in one large packet. Of course, there's no guarantee that she'll respond to, or even read them. And there's nothing different about this than if you sent a card yourself (we have the same contact info as you do!), but for us, it's about the gesture, and getting a little "care package" so to speak, from fans all over the place, seems like a great thing to do.
I (coolbyrne) will be doing the collecting and I live in Canada. So, we have a time frame of approximately four weeks starting today, in order to give fair enough time for me to send them to the UK and still give the contact addy time to get them to her. I would like to set the deadline for Feb. 13th, which is exactly four weeks away. Now, keep in mind, most mail takes 7-10 days to get to me from most places around the world. So you really only have about three weeks to get things to me. Not much time, I know, but it only needs to be a card and/or a short note. (In fact, I ask that you don't send anything OTHER than a card and/or note, because it will be easier, quicker, and cheaper to mail as a letter package.)
