[The feed is quite clearly being held by her hand... away from her body. She's fumbling with a needle on her knee, trying to stitch it up. And failing. the feed's angled so she can see it and talk to it easily as she tries to concentrate.]

I heard something about swapping things? [she pauses, her mouth drawn into a worried S shape.] Does anybody ( Read more... )

[She watches for a moment, frowning slightly at the girl's struggle.] I don't suddenly know how to sew. But I can sew... if you need some help there.

[She gives a small, grateful smile.] That would be wonderful, thank you. Where are you?

[Steph smiles back. She's glad to help, especially with whatever weird thing the Author has cooked up this week.] I'm in room seven. I can come find you though, if that's easier. I mean. We wouldn't want you to hurt yourself on the way over here, right?

[Nice, Steph. You managed that without saying that you're worried she'll "fall apart." Probably not the most tactful way to put something....]

Don't be silly, it doesn't hurt! [She waves it away with the hand that's still attached, before pulling herself upright. She tries taking a step, but the seam that she was trying to sew prevents her from getting too far very fast. So. She does the natural thing.

She pulls a seam nearer the top of her leg, and the rest of it comes off. It's not the first time she's moved about like this, and putting the device in her pocket, she hops along the halls to the room number, leg under her arm, using the wall for support. Her hand crawling behind her.

She announces her arrival with a small knock, the detatched hand doing it.]

Okay. [She shrugs and waits. There's not much else that she can do.

When there's a knock at her door a few minutes later Steph makes sure that any items that might connect her to Batgirl are safely tucked into the closet before answering the door. She blinks, Sally's... limbless state a little unexpected, but she didn't seem to be in pain or anything so Steph smiles and opens the door a little further, motioning for her to come in.] Sooooo... What do you need help with? I mean. Your leg kind of looks like it could use some stitching. Just point me in the right direction and I'll do my best.

Well... [She makes her way over to the bed and sits on it, placing the leg next to her.] The first problem was here... [she points at the seam she had been trying to sew in the video.] But it made walking here hard, so you can see that needs sewing back on, and my hand. [Which had taken residence on Sally's shoulder as it waited. It wiggled it's fingers in greeting when Sally mentioned it.]

Yeah... I see that. It doesn't hurt or anything? To be... in pieces like that? [She closes the door and walks over to the bed, kneeling next to Sally to get a better look.] You have a needle and stuff to sew this up, right? [At least she'd had one in the video. Steph assumed that she'd brought it with her.]

Does this happen a lot? I mean... You don't really seem to be super bothered about it. [For her part, Steph thought it was kind of weird, but it wasn't like she hadn't met people with different abilities or whatever before. At least Sally seemed nice and mostly harmless.]

No, not at all. [She hands over the needle carefully, and a reel of black thread.]

It's happened a few times since I was made. But I've always been able to sew it back up if nobody else is around.

Okay. So this is normal then. [Not that she had a whole lot of room to talk about "normal," but she'd also never met anyone who was sewn together.

She threads the needle and picks up the leg, holding it in place as she starts to sew. It wasn't quite like she imagined stitching up a wound on a person who didn't routinely sew themselves back together would be, but it was less different than working with fabric than she thought. Once the front of the leg was finished Steph went to move Sally's foot up so she could have better access, pausing before actually beginning the action.] You don't mind if I...? [She gestures, illustrating her intentions.]

All right then. [Steph rearranges how she's sitting so that she can prop Sally's leg on her knee and finish sewing the rest of the limb back into place.] I hope you get your sewing talent back soon. These things usually last about a week, right? If you need anymore help or anything, I'd be more than happy to sew you back together.

[Okay, Steph. You should probably quit babbling before you say something really awkward.

She ties off the stitch and sets Sally's leg back down so she can survey her handiwork.] Does that feel okay?

Thank you very much.

[She flexes her leg a couple of times, and nods] Perfect, thank you. This should be easier. [As she says 'This', she picks her hand up, and holds it gently, waiting for Steph to take it.]

I-I'm sorry I've such a bother.
