He'd been dying, his friends were dying. That had been on his mind all week. And that talk with Reborn. He didn't remember it then, but now he clearly remembers the baby who'd helped

[He'd been wondering where Hattori had gone... and somehow, the noise outside and spotting someone dodging a sea serpent seemed ... not that surprising.]

[He managed a pretty good clip sprint-swimming out to where the whole chase was going on; the kelp forest wasn't that far away, and hell, as much as he wasn't armored, at least the lionfish spines, fins, and markings were a giant, blaring "POISONOUS" sign.]

HATTORI! OVER HERE!

[Don't worry, he's not covering you with muck this time! Just trying to signal over towards the kelp where, you know, there's a chance of losing the giant angry sea dragon.]

*He dodged another furious nip at his tail, the fin down his spine flaring in alarm, and he slices at its eye. The hit merely slid off its scales, but disoriented it enough that he could duck behind on of its coils to make for the kelp.

It wasn't distracted for long, however, and made off after him with a roar.*

[Well, it wasn't like Saguru's plan was that complicated - it mostly involved booking it zig-zagging different directions through the thick plants and all the other distractions until they'd broken line of sight long enough for it to lose track of them; considering it looked like Heiji was perfectly capable of keeping a pretty good clip even with the armor, he was ...fairly confident that they could lose it with all the disorientation.]

[Failing that, he was pretty sure he could survive getting a fin chewed on, but was crossing fingers it wouldn't.]

*Heiji likes zig zags. He's perfectly okay with zig zags. He has to duck and roll again, losing a bit of ground in order to avoid a snap of teeth. He was impressed with himself, certainly, his reflexes were brilliant, and after a moment he realizes he can feel the displacement of the water on his skin.

Smacking the serpent again, twice, he risks another dive around the creature to tangle it and lose himself in its coils again, skating across the ground finally to make it into the forest, heading for where he saw Hakuba*
