[Kate Beckett's found her way into the third floor library. She's only been at the Manor for about 45 minutes; the bulk of that spent poking around the bedroom, and a good ten minutes of that staring at her nameplate on the door.

[Naoto was kind of relieved to know she wasn't a butterfly any more and not it meant that she can go read, study and just generally do something during the calm before the storm. Going through the various books she picks out a detective book that caught her attention.

Looking over she spotted someone she hadn't seen before.]

[Beckett looks up from her blackberry at the newcomer, frowning.]

You could say that. Any chance you could tell me what here is?

[She opens up a page in her book, her finger tracing it lightly.]

I can answer that. With the information that I have gather from various other sources it seems that we are logically in some place known simply as the manor.

[She turned the page over, her eyes still looking down at the book.]

This isn't a normal kidnapping, far from it in fact. it's...quite hard to explain even for me.

There is nothing about this that qualifies as normal.

How many more people are here?

[Give Naoto a moment or two, she's trying to remember the amount of doors she has seen with names on.]

Over 20 people at least, though the amount of rooms shows that there can be room for many more to come, so the numbers might keep rising.

[Beckett frowns.]

This is a very well organized mass kidnapping. Have you all spoken to each other and tried to figure out any connection between the people who have been brought here?

No, it's never really been brought up.

[She's rather impressed that someone just gave her an idea.]]

But I can always bring it up on the network, see if anyone has any ideas.

[She offers her hand.]

Kate Beckett. I'm a homicide detective with the NYPD.

[She takes her hand, rather surprised that a female detective, she had to wonder how much respect she gets from others.]

Naoto Shirogane. I'm much like you in that I'm a detective, though I'm more free lance.

[Beckett rules the roost down at the 12th. She's the best and the brightest and that gets respect. It also got a book series based loosely on her life, but that's a whole other story.]

It's nice to meet you, Naoto. Maybe you can fill me in on any theories you have?

[If she knew that, she'd admire you somewhat. After all there is a reason Naoto kind of dresses like a boy and acts more mature.]

Of course, although most of it I've heard from others, and a couple that I thought of on my own.

[Ironically, if Kate knew all of that, she would admire Naoto just as much. Kate certainly had her own bad experiences, being a woman in a man's world, but for the most part, she's felt like she belonged.]

I'd like to hear them. Because right now I've made it as far as "delusional dirtbag taking hostages" and not much further.

[She nods slightly.]

It's true that this author is taking us as some kind of hostages, there is no sign of ever giving a random or even showing any signs of being harmful. Unless of course you count the various so called 'plots' we get involved in every now and again.

[With the now closed detective novel, she places it within her arms.]

Though unlike most kidnapper, we have pretty much free range and she never really makes herself known to us, which is rather odd considering she is kidnapping people from their homes and from very important things.

It doesn't make any sense. What's the motive? And how can one person be capable of orchestrating something like this without anyone on the outside knowing? [She frowns.] We have friends and family back home. Someone is trying to find us.

So far a motive hasn't been found out, nor a connection between all of us. Like in most cases these are the most important things to find out and if we can't find anything, it makes figure this out a lot harder.

Well, we can't let it get to us. There's something to find, we just need to know where to look. Let's start with us. We're both detectives...
