#002 // in person

[Even though by now several people had told Kanda the ship was likely going to sink, now that it was actually happening it was still a surprise. He generally didn't like boats, and being in one huge as this almost felt as if a continent was sinking. Unpleasant.]

[More so out of spite towards the whole thing than genuinely wishing to help anyone, he went through most of the Second Class deck, demolishing locked gates and doors, practically every one going down from a single strike. When that was done, he casually walked out, heading for the top. Surely a thing this gigantic had several sailships for lifeboats at least.]

[As it turned out, no. There was chaos and departing boats, and everyone was screaming and running, and it was just annoying. Kanda contemplated stealing a baby to get on one of the boats, however a) there were none to be seen around at the moment, b) someone was already pushing him towards one, shouting something like "This way, miss".]

[He punched the offender's face in and marched for the opposite side of the deck, abandoning the idea of getting out through a boat since it seemed to be the path women and wimps were taking. After all, as much as he hated water, it wasn't like he wasn't going to survive. Cold meant nothing to him, and as long as he managed to grab onto something to stay on the surface...]

[Wait a minute.]

[He quickly reached into his pocket, remembering what he had taken from the closet back in his cabin. It might was well be his lifesaver now. He had taken it just because he hated boats and he wanted to be prepared; and the yellow rubber ducky thing had seemed familiar enough to keep, even if it wasn't exactly like Mr Quack Quack who kept him company while bathing back home. But it was a big thing that floated and therefore useful in sinking boats.]

[And so, as the deck tilts more and more, becoming less and less horizontal, he quickly inflates the ducky and puts it on, his expression still as much of The Embodiment Of Serious And Cool as it has ever been.]
