[Holding up a rubber duck thanks to the works according to this post 17 looks rather perplexed. It isn't every day you see an army of bright yellow floating merrily down the stream. And every other source of water one could encounter.] Is this some kind of a joke? It's a little funny, but I don't get the point.

How many units are there?

[No, he's not joking. He wants an exact count. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO HIM OKAY?]

...you want me to count all of them? Let's not forget that there are multiple sources of water here and they're probably scattered everywhere.

Yes. [He says this oh-so-nonchalantly as if he had just asked someone to pass the salt.]

If that's too hard for you, I can settle for pictures or a recording too.

[Hmph.] Fine. Hold on.

[Time to put those android abilities to use. For a moment there's a pause over the feed as he scans the incoming set of ducks in the water, counting them quickly and adding them up in his computerized brain. It doesn't take long--]

In this particular spot there are an average forty-two if you consider the exchange of units arriving and leaving in my span of view as an equal constant, averaging each other out.

[SPLASH! Something just got 'shot' out of the water.] ...Forty-one.

Back to forty-two.

Forty-one...

....forty-one and a half.... forty....

[Near recalls this person mentioning something about blowing things up with his blue friend over the feeds before. He also recalls a conversation between them with the mention of Dragon Balls, something that Dende has spoken about as well. Near's aware of Dende's abilities, so he wouldn't put it past others from the alien's universe to likewise possess powerful skills.

However, this is first he's seen such a display of superhuman mental abilities.

Congratulations 17, you have officially tied with your fellow ducky friends in terms of catching Near's interest.]

Yes, that should suffice.

[Private mode!]

Impressive. Do all of your kind possess such talents?

[That would refer to both the unnatural rate of computation and the whatever he had just used, assuming it wasn't a weapon, to destroy that poor, unsuspecting duck.]

[All of his kind? Coming from a world where stubby legged dragons roam the mountains as wild cats would and a good amount of people on the planet do know how to fly and shoot beams from their hands or eyes, being called out for what is rather unusual. But then again, he has to remember he isn't at home. Here at the manor, this sort of astonishment occurs frequently.

How sad it must be for the people who live in places where there aren't any flying men or lizard creatures who shoot purple rays out of their mouth.]

As it stands, I'm the only one of my kind here. Had there been another I would have been able to detect them immediately. [Dr. Gero would have never made someone after him he wouldn't already know about... right?]

You're talking to the only one.

[Well, someone's awfully proud of themselves. Perhaps he can use that pride to his advantage.]

And is speed-counting all you can do?

[Near says this very matter-of-factly.]

Not at all. I can do many things. [Not that he feels like listing them all off like he's some sort of computer on sale.] You seem unusually curious about what I can do... any particular reason to that? [Or maybe this person is just one of those types who likes to ask a LOT of questions.]

Because I don't believe you can. Prove it.

Only one ability, which can be learned and practiced by anyone given enough diligence I might add, but not the rest that you claim to be capable of.

Oh well, if you're not capable of anything else, then I suppose I'll leave you be.

All this talk about how apparently I can't do anything impressive.. sounds to me like you're trying to get me to do something.

But for what? What do you have to gain from seeing anything, anyway? [17 is definitely too selfish to use his abilities for someone else.]

Nothing at all. Consider it research, but if you're uncomfortable, I'll gladly drop the subject.

[Though of course that won't stop him from continuing to stalk you and those from your world. :3]

Research. [Reminds him of Dr. Gero. This kid isn't making a good mark on 17's list already.]

Bunch of garbage. No need to collect all that information if isn't going to pertain to you or if you don't plan to use it. Who seeks knowledge for the sake of just knowing more? [Being the product of an experiment of sorts, 17 isn't going to go easy on this.]
