Do you all remember that theory we all had about being safe in our own heads? That the Author can't affect our free will?

We were wrong.

Apparently, she has the power to briefly take over the body of another person. I'm not sure how she does it- but right now that's the least of our worries- now we need to keep an eye out for anyone else that suffers the same misfortune.

I'm sure it's not on purpose but that doesn't matter anymore.

No. What matters is that she can and that our free will is potentially in danger. God, and I thought this place couldn't get any worse.

[Guess she'll have to start putting up mental blocks to keep unwanted Authors out...]

This maybe a good thing- I mean, possessing someone's mind is completely outlawed on any kind of civilized planet- but now we can talk to her- get to know her and maybe work this whole mess out.

Perhaps. But if she deigns herself to be above such things as mind control, then she won't stoop to talk to us. She hasn't before and she won't now. Unless we force her hand somehow.

While in someone else's body, she will talk- so there's no need to force anyone's hand- not yet, anyway.

You don't say.

[Despite herself, she smiles.]

Well, that is interesting indeed. Should she ever do this again, I would like to speak to her. I have something of a talent for digging through people's minds. I might be able to find something out.

I can't let you do that- She's only a child, after all.

She's a teenager, old enough to understand the consequences of her actions. More to the point, if she's powerful enough to trap us all here and toy with us as she does, a little invasive telepathy won't hurt her. It's not like I'll leave her a drooling comatose patient, much as I might like that. I simply want information.

She's a teenager that doesn't understand what she's doing. She's not the powerful one- it's her words. From her point of view she's only writing a story- that's all.

And yet she still controls us, whether she realizes it or not. It does not make her any less responsible.

Perhaps you're afraid that I'll do some real damage to her. I assure you I will not. But if the opportunity to get answers and information presents itself, I will not let it pass me by.

You're going to find it very difficult to get answers from someone that doesn't have any.

It'll be worth a try. Even if she doesn't know what we want to know, she'll know something, and there will surely be something worth learning inside her psyche. Everyone has their secrets, Doctor.

Yeah, I think you're forgetting the part where- She's a child! You don't use psychic powers on a child- She can keep her secrets it's probably all who likes who stuff anyway- hardly relevant at all.

And if she doesn't know what we want to know there's no point in it and I will not allow it. Invading the mind of anyone- especially someone unwilling, it can be very damaging no matter how much you think it won't harm them.

Forcing your way into anyone's mind, no matter what your reason is and how gentle you intend to be can still be traumatizing- especially to girl who thinks of us as figments of the imagination. It's basically like saying you're going to rape someone oh but you'll be gentle about it- it still does the same amount of damage.
