Seems like my canteen's run out and that kitchen is drier than Death Valley in a drought. Don't suppose any of y'all got some whiskey squirreled away somewhere?

[Pause.]

[Wait.]

[Wait.]

[Sigh.]

Guess not. Maybe that's for the best after all.

[And that's it from the cowboy.]

You'll dehydrate faster drinking things like that.

Maybe so, Pardner, but on the trail, you gotta drink something that keeps you goin' when the days are hot and the nights are cold.

Hot or could water would be preferable where your body is concerned. You'll leave yourself useless if you dehydrate or become ill.

I can handle it, Pardner. I've spent many years on the range.

Besides, seems like I'm plenty useless already, so anything more ain't gonna hurt.

[[Hiiro simply makes a nose, whatever he says. He's no one's papa.]]

Uselessness and self-preservation are two different things.

Let me ask you this, then.

We got any water?

[Seeing as everything's breaking around the manor, he'd be surprised if the pipes still gave clean drinking water.]

There's always a method of collection as long as you're willing to endure process.

[[Yes. Yes that is his gentlest way of saying 'of course'.]]

I reckon it's 'bout time to set the rain barrels, then.

There's that method as well, providing the weather makes due. Providing that your 'range' meant a battlefield, then you'll know full well.

"My" range, Pardner? Didn't think "my" range was all that different from anyone else's.

[Except, well, Jake's never actually spent much time on an actual range. His "range" means "the streets of L.A."]

..You're referring to a span of your abilities, aren't you? Your range?

[Oh...Hiiro's thinking of something completely different. Jake snorts, slightly amused at his own mistake. Guess not everyone had the West on their mind all the time.]

Think we had a bit of a misunderstandin' here, Pardner.

[[There's definite silence, if not the movement of random things in the back-ground of course.]]

Then explain?

If we're talkin' about my "range" of abilities, there ain't much there anymore. Seems like I'm just a washed up desperado, wanderin' the trails of life. If you listen hard 'nuff, you can hear the wind howlin' my name.

[Sigh.]

...too bad we're out of whiskey, huh, Pardner?

[[Hiiro's pretty sure this guy's already been into the whiskey before this conversation. Then again he's not privy to every world's terminology.]]

Your name is 'woooooosh'?
You're only 'washed up' if you allow yourself to stale. However, you spoke of range as though it weren't abilities- what did you mean?

You've never heard of the range, Pardner?

[Pause.]

You know, open skies, lonely trails,...
