002 - Near - [Audio] - Please bear with him and his tl;dr

[A week of waiting had been enough. Near had see how the epidemic had subsided just as quickly as it had come, and all over the course of exactly one week, just as he was told. The event itself paved way for other advantages as well. Near did not have to worry about any sort of physical threats due to everyone else falling ill, and since those who ( Read more... )

...I'm pretty sure the guy making the maps got written out- but I can make a copy of mine- I'm not too terrible at drawing, I don't think.

I've been here since August and it's April now- so... eight months. [she's not even questioning her math- she's good at it, after all.]

Oh! If you want to know about the Author then you should talk to Saguru-kun. He should be in room thirty-one.

I have acquired one, already, thank you. But if you would like to send me your own copy anyway, I will gladly accept it.

Saguru the detective? [Yes, he remembers Kudo mentioning him, and this girl is referring to him with -kun.]

So he is from your world too I assume?

H-hai... we go to school together- well, when he's not off in London, that is.

[The Author seems to have some strange affinity for detectives and those related to them then. This would make sense considering she is looking for interesting characters for what she considers interesting plots.]

I see. You recommended that I speak with him with questions regarding the Author. Why is that? Has he managed to contact the Author directly before?

No, but Saguru-kun is a detective and he would have picked up on a lot of things other people would miss- plus he seems to get along with most people here.

I see. Alright then. I will get in touch with him.

[If this girl was kind enough to offer to make her own drawing of a map, then she probably wouldn't mind answer some questions.]

So you have been here for eight months. I assume you know a substantial amount about the phone. Last week, I noticed video feeds that appear to have been accidental. Does the phone automatically turn itself on sometimes or were those feeds just coincidence?

I think it's mostly people accidentally brushing against the record button- or pressing it without meaning too- like if someone were to fiddle with it when they're nervous- they might accidentally press the record button and or something..

But, I wouldn't put it past the author to let them record on their own.

[So the manor is full of stupid, careless people. Noted.]

The device also came loaded with a contact list of numbers, although I do not know who all of them refer to, but you surely know more people here than I do. I assume that these numbers refer to everyone who's currently living at the manor, or in this case, the ship. Does that seem correct?

Mmhm, but there are a few people that have posted before with an untraceable number and they don't have their names in the contact list...

[Ah yes, Near has seen it done himself and is currently in the process of composing his own encryption, and about five other backups, just in case.]

The device also records all messages that are posted to the network, but the memory is limited. Do you know if there is a way to transfer these files to a computer? Also, do the recorded messages stay loaded on the device until we choose to remove them or does the device itself automatically erase them once it becomes full?

[....do they even work that way?]

A-ah.. s-sorry but I don't really know- I never thought to do something like that.

Alright, that's fine.

[Useless girl.]

How many others here are from your world?

Quite a large proportion of the population here. Were you the first of the group to arrive?

Yes, actually...

[Lucky guess is lucky.]

At what rate did the rest of your group arrive then? Do you remember?

[Perhaps there's some way to predict when others from his own world would join him, preferably allies, assuming that he will be forced to remain here for a long time that is.]
