Cake & OCD 001 - [Video]

[[Unaware he's being watched on some sort of video device, L jerks upright from what could only be the most traumatic thing of his young life. His dark eyes look out from under his messed hair to the sound of his rapidly beating heart in his ears- his heart. ..He touches his chest, looking down there at that point as though that would explain why ( Read more... )

[Conan blinks at the feed for several seconds just staring, baffled by it before deciding maybe he should warn this individual of where they were and what to be on the look out for.]

[...Really Author?! New arrivals? Now?]

[He takes a moment to put on a look of pure innocence as the presence of a small seven year old might be a bit calming- most people liked kids.]

[...Seriously, though? New arrivals? Just dumping them on Isla Nublar with no prior knowledge of the situation... Right, anyway-]

Hello?

[[It takes a few moments before L's face comes back on the screen, after all he's not certain who's voice it is, what this thing really does or if it's truly calling out to him at all.

One way to find out.

He turns the feed toward him the best he thinks he has himself in frame and his studious though otherwise blank features come into sight. He doesn't say anything at first, simply stares at the video of a young child. He scratches his head with one hand, some of his fingers still holding the blanket so that it doesn't slip.]]

Who's this?

[Conan is quickly trying to work through what sort of person this is that he's talking too- so far he can only make out a few things and not near enough to settle his curiosity.

This guy could probably due with more sleep, spends very little to no time in the sun and probably sits behind a computer monitor as right now it looks a bit like the screen had bleached his skin. All of this led him to the conclusion this guy would not stand a chance against the dinosaurs.]

Edogawa Conan, detective.

[[All extremely good situational pick outs, he can tell he's being studied, but not at the depth that Conan really is doing so far. At this point L's convinced its child-like curiosity with perhaps a little more maturity than the young man is letting on by his looks.

L licks his bottom lip if only to wet it, studying the screen and giving it careful consideration. Enjoy the rare look of surprise on L's eyebrows, with how high they've moved at the title the kid gives himself.

White lies to get some answers.]]

If that's true, I've never heard of you. I follow the long arms of justice closely, names, places, dates. Where are you from?

That's not surprising- You've probably never heard of Kaitou Kid either, ne?

[after all, anyone that had heard of Conan would probably associate his name with Kid better than the random miscellaneous cases he took on with the kids]

I'm from Beika district in Tokyo Japan- though probably not from your world.

[[L shakes his head for the first line of questioning. No he's never heard of anyone significant of interest with the name Kaito Kid. But was this kid playing pretend or was he being serious? Kids did that, played pretend right? Imaginary things?

He flicks his head to the side to alleviate some of his hair that had fallen into his direct view from his line of sight and stares intently. Is he forgetting more from home than just those last little moments of life?

Waitwhat?]]

My world? There's only one world and only one Tokyo, Japan.

[yeah, this always was the hard part but this time he had what could be counted as solid evidence... dinosuars... and all.]

I used to think that too! I mean, I did look at string theory and the multi-verse theory a few times- but nothing could ever be proven.

But I can prove it to you now! There should be some pamphlets on the bedside table. They should say something about Jurassic Park- a name you may or may not recognize from the early nineties.

[[L gives a speculating look toward this young detective and though he's been through some interesting revelations about a few things already, he gives this boy the benefit of the doubt.

If guys with holes in their chests exist...]

Hmm...

[He sets down the fingertip held Blackberry to show the ceiling and moves over toward the bedside table in the relative darkness. There's long silence and the sound of papers being shuffled or moved about, rather he's reading through them.

Then comes back, his fingers picking up the phone carefully to stare into it. His feet gather themselves up against the chair seat he's sitting on and he assumes his regular position.]]

I don't imagine people would go through this elaborate of a scheme, so you're saying there's different worlds? How are they identified?

Reply

[Video] always1truth March 10 2011, 00:01:05 UTC
You can't really identify them- you can just tell when someone is from your world by asking a few questions.

I already know we're from a different world just by asking you about Kaitou Kid. He's an international jewel thief that makes a show of his heists- if you haven't heard of him back home... you probably live under a rock.

[[L can't exactly say he doesn't live under a rock, but not so much that he wouldn't have gone after an international jewel thief. That one sounds like quite a challenge and he would have gladly risen to it, drug Watari along and a pastry shop as well.

He is motionless as he listens, his hair even falling in front of his eyes momentarily before the adjustment of his sitting position to be more forward placed moves it off to another side.]]

It's too bad I don't come from your world, that case sounds like it'd be a refreshing one.

...If you can suffer the humiliation he puts his pursuers through- it is refreshing because he never hurts anyone and he never actually keeps what he steals.

[...]

A-ah Actually! Kaitou Kid is around here somewhere! But you probably won't hear from him until the Author puts us in a big city with a museum or something.

[[He stares deadpan into the video screen, wondering what sort of case that would be. Boring or not boring, maybe tracking down who- but if this guy says he's around here the 'who' is already discovered. His intrigue falls a little bit from it, but not so much, hoping maybe to see this 'kid' as well. He's going to have to do some checking in on this young man to see just how much of that's true.]]

Just how old did you say you were? Is it common for children in what you're saying is 'your world' to become pursuers?

[Video] always1truth March 10 2011, 21:55:23 UTC
[...Oh snap. How old is he supposed to be now? Six or Seven? Well, it's March so...]

Seven! [...That sounds right.] Not usually, but I live at a detective agency with a [self proclaimed] famous detective- plus I'm related to Kudo Shinichi who's a famous high school Detective and friends with another teenage detective in Osaka, Hattori Heiji.

[so he's surrounded by detectives.]
