Match 2 // Romping Around the Kitchen [In Person]

Feb 21, 2011 19:37

[You really can't not recognize Koto - what with the whole ears and tail thing going on. At this point her fluffy beige tail sticks out of cute pink denim shorts, almost as big as she is in its static, and her ears are also disproportionate. It seems that despite wandering around as a vertically challenged, round little child, her feline appendages ( Read more... )

[Well she seems to be settling in better than most. Naomi can't help but smile a bit. After all, this kid made a rather cute um, kitten ... girl? Bah, so ridiculous. Naomi didn't want to interrupt, but just standing around watching made her feel like a creeper.]

A wrestling or boxing fan, I see?

[Koto looks up in surprise, having thought she would be alone. After recognizing Naomi as someone who'd greeted her when she first arrived, she smiles and shrugs.]

You could say that. [Not evasive at all. She steps aside and motions to the contents of the fridge.] Are you hungry, too?

Oh, just a bit, but I didn't mean to push you away. You were here first after all. I'll take my turn when you're done.

Ah, that's right, I don't believe we've ever introduced ourselves. My name is Naomi. [She gives a smile.] It looks like you're settling in better than most newcomers.

I'm Koto. [She momentarily turns away from Naomi to extract a yogurt cup (with oreo crumbles!) from the fridge. She rummages in the drawers until she can find a spoon and sits down at the island, talking.]

Well, there's no use pouting, right? Won't change anything. If that could get the Author to send you home, no one would be here because everyone would just sulk till they got sent home. [She grins and sticks the spoonful of yogurt in her mouth, tail flicking in yummy delight.] I only pout when there's something to gain.

Oh really? [Naomi heads for the fridge now.] An example?

Erm... [Well there are examples, obviously, but now that she's on the spot, forget it.]

Well, for example, if someone is doing something I don't want them to do, I could pout to try and make them change their minds. Or something. It helps you get what you want, a lot.

...and sometimes it doesn't, I guess. [She frowns in remembrance of a couple of ventures gone bad, shoveling more yogurt.] It just depends on the person and the situation, I guess.

Oh I see. [Naomi speaks when her back still turned, head buried in the fridge. Between words, you can hear the clattering sounds of food and containers being shoved around.] Facial guilt-tripping. Not very many of us are able to pull it off.

But you sound like you've had experience in that area.

[She shrugs, dismissing it easily.] Competitive world - any edge is valuable, right?

[Misora pops out of the fridge with a juice box.] That's one way to look at it. Is it very competitive where you're from?

[She thinks for a moment, hooking another stool with her leg and pulling it out for Naomi.]

In some parts. They're sort of worlds within a world... the part where I come from is very competitive, though.

Thank you. [She takes the stool.]

I noticed you're not like me and the people from my world, so I'm curious as to how yours operated. Worlds within a world ... interesting. Does that mean you know how to travel across worlds?

My worlds, that is. There are two main ones; Human World and Demon World; and they used to be separated by a barrier, a net of sorts, that only caught the so-called "big" demons, the powerful ones, so that they couldn't go wreak havoc in Human World. The little ones, the less powerful, like me, could squeak by easily. It's all a matter of finding the right portal - they're everywhere if you know where to look.

Of course, nowadays, Enki rules Demon World and he's got it under an iron grip, so they took down the barrier, but funny enough, there isn't much havoc being wreaked anyway.

The third world, which is Spirit World - well, the only way to get there is to die or to be brought there by The Powers That Be, if you know what I mean.

[Her spoon taps against her chin thoughtfully.]

Sorry, I'm probably boring you. What's your world like?
