[Glad that John had learned his place he cocks a brow debating what to say.]

So what is a sense offender?

[Drugs. He never liked people that had to rely on them...]

Developed to suppress emotions? Tch. How pathetic.

If you had seen...[John's face darkens significantly at the thought of WW3] What these...they were just kids.

[John remembers what he himself had done...so many people he had killed.]

I've seen senseless carnage. I've seen it for the sake of power, wealth and the development of science so they can destroy more.

[He folds his arms. John had his way of dealing with things.. Shiki had his, which was to just try and shrug it off, justify those dead as being weak.]

The division of an entire country does that.

Is there a right way? How is your way any better than his? This is rapidly becoming a reminder of what I've done and I don't want to feel like this anymore. Talk about something else.

Tch. Too afraid to face up to what you've done? That's not my problem. We all have our issues, forcing them aside with a manufactured state of stoicism won't help.

I'm not afraid. But this feeling is reinforcing the theory behind what Prozium is for and why we took it. The people took it willingly at first...

Guilt? It's part of being human. You get used to it-- What?

They embraced it, welcomed it as a solution to their problems, to their violent natures and to end all sadness and pain. Then things like art, music, relationships....all of it lost meaning. People who missed their doses began to feel and they began to fight.

Suppression isn't a healthy solution. Their rebellion should have been enough of an eye opener.

It was truly that horrific they'd take such a route?

[...If his world had that.. instead of Line.. would people have taken it..? Would he have done so?]

Yes. I am starting to agree with you that it was not right, the way Father did things. But it's what I am accustomed to and I am adjusting. I would appreciate it if your hostility toward me ceased. You seem like a good man.
