[His eyes widened, mostly out of the searing pain that shot through him at the very thought of motion, let alone actually being lifted. It was getting dark, being able to form any coherent speech was wishful thinking on Tom's part.

With a harsh choke, his body's way of trying to help Tom's efforts he brings up an amount of blood. Wincing as it racked through his body. He was no use to anyone now, not like this.

Only through sheer will power did he manage to contract his neck muscles to shake his head. He couldn't say. Only when the Author brought him back would he be able to, that was /if/ she even bothered to. His last moments were just as painful as when he vaguely came to, choking unable to get that vital air into his system. Violent gasps that resulted in nothing more than a sickening gaging noise. He shook, eyes wide. He was dying... Oh god he was dying. Panic surged through him, only quickening the rate of what little blood he had left collecting in his lungs. Even if there was the possibility of coming back.. he'd still been killed.
