[Mello is standing out in the snow, he wants to be alone and he can't think of anywhere better than outside in the freezing cold. He's bundled up in a thick red coat topped in a fur collar. In his gloved hands he holds his bible and his rosary beads. It's Christmas and for the first time in his life he has not been able to attend mass. It's depressing him, crushing him. So, on one of the most important Christen holidays of the year, Mello finds himself alone with his bible trying to find some solace, some religious warmth tonight. He exhales a jet of white breath and opens the old worn book. It's followed him everywhere, from Germany to England to the US to Japan, just as his rosary had. So he begins to read, and he begins to pray.]
