I don't know..I guess I would be more concerned with my father worrying about me, than always being reminded that he's never coming back.

[Gene's heart sinks when he hears her words about her father but is uplifted that she still cares even through the problems she's had here. His memory flits to his daughter and all the worry that she must have for him.]

You know, being a father myself, I think just thinking about him and writing letters to him might help. Even though they won't physically get to him, the thoughts and the love you have for him should help him feel better knowing that you're okay.

I write to my daughter everyday.

I was just doing that actually..though, after a while it gets hard to think of things to say..

Lynn used to write out her thoughts about her mother on little pieces of paper and she would put them in her pocket so she wouldn't forget. She's only six but she still hopes that someday her mother will return.

I never discouraged her.
