[Anyone who's been paying attention to Shiki over the past few days will notice he's become gradually more and more twitchy and tense. Some would put it down to pre-battle stress. That's partly it, but it's something that runs a little deeper. Something much closer to home. Something much more raw causing anxiety. So, he subtly excuses himself, saying he's checking on something within the woods - just an area check to make sure there's no Kishin.
Once out of sight, within a clearing in the woods, that's when everything kicks off. With a frustrated yell he kicks one of the trees. Lashing out at anything within his sight, yelling as he does. Raking his hands through his hair.
'Not again. I'm not losing an entire squad again. I refuse to have that responsibility resting on my shoulders!'
Again and again he begins hitting just one tree, sure he's taking chips from the bark but his gloves are becoming worn, knuckles warming. He knows he's split the skin but even so he just keeps beating the living daylights into the damn thing. Seemingly never tiring.
Eventually he stops punching, slumping down by the stump of the tree. His knees tucked up to his chest, momentarily curled up at least. He stretches out and sighs, clenching and unclenching his fist, wincing as he does. It might not have been the best idea especially when he clarifies he's quite severely torn the skin on his knuckles. Not the best idea he's ever had..
Soon enough he'd clear his head. But this seems.. too much like when he fought against the Nicole:Premier. The odds almost as bad as they were now. He was the only one who survived. He wasn't prepared for that again, he was nearly broken the last time. Why? Was this just something the Author was doing on purpose? Was she trying to push all the wrong buttons?]
..Shit..
