Not at all, it would be only right to make sure that everyone is on the same page.

From what I have been told we have been kidnapped by a girl known only as the Author and this is simply called the Manor. We however have no means of escaping and are subjected to various 'plots' as they are called. So this leads me to believe we are in a story of some sort.

My thoughts exactly. I cannot understand why the Author would seek to use us for the purposes of a story. Apparently we must also be wary of monsters this week that are supposedly our fears..
