I got the job!

Monday was the interview. I came out of it feeling really good, it was very relaxed and didn't feel too formal or structured. Andy, the financial controller interviewing me was really friendly and put me at ease. He was so passionate about the company, about what they do and the way they're growing, you could tell he genuinely cared - about the company, about the job and about his staff. I came out of the interview, rang the recruiter and went 'I want to work for Andy, I want this job'. Which was funny because going in, it was the one I was least bothered about - the less money out of the interviews and further away from home. But oh, I wanted it.

Tuesday late afternoon I get a phone call from the recruiter to say that I'm the preferred candidate for the role but I'm asking for more money than he'd been given the budget for. I was waiting for him to say 'so, sorry, you didn't get it', but then he continued to say 'Andy is going back to the CEO to get the sign off on offering the 21.5 that you're asking for'. MEEP!
I did the math and said that I could meet them in the middle at 21, but couldn't go any lower than that with the added travel costs/wear and tear on my car and that it was a dealbreaker.

Wednesday morning I get another phone call to basically tell me there's no update. Andy's been in and out of meetings, the CEO has been in and out of meetings and he's not been able to negotiate the wage.

Wednesday evening, another phone call to say they've got the sign off on 21k and to offer me the job. Which I accepted. The offer letter and basic info were sent to me straight away.

Yesterday, I handed my notice in to my current manager then I rang the agency to let them know I would be leaving because I'd found a permanent job. I signed the offer letter and sent it back, confirming my start date. I spent a bit of time yesterday doing very important tasks like swapping phone numbers and emails with the people on other sites who I chat to on email/skype and want to stay in touch with.

I'd already got a holiday booked from my current job from today through to the 1st May - a combination of upcoming shenanigans with having 65 hours of holiday to use before the end of my holiday year on the 10th May. So I go back into work at Schneider on Wednesday 1st, work through to the 3rd which will be my last day. I then get the long weekend for May bank holiday and start the new job on Tuesday 7th.
