Happiness

Today was very much a 'first day back at work after a few days off' where no-one had picked up any of the 44 voicemails that had been left me, and I had 307 emails and my FM company suddenly realised they'd not asked for any 'off fund job' POs this year. I was a very frazzled llama but bloody hell did the day go fast... I even managed to do 30 minutes over time. Totally didn't notice anyone else leaving. No, I have no idea how I managed that either.

So, this evening I want to focus on some things that make me happy. And lists are always good, right?!

Raintown and really is anyone at all surprised that they make the list, let alone top it? Nope, didn't think so somehow! I adore their music, it's a real mood boost and they're lovely people who're becoming good friends of mine. Their gigs are just... LOVE.

Stargate comes in a close second. SG1 and Atlantis though, not SGU - I never connected with the characters and it has the wrong tone for the franchise. The shows got me through some really hard depressive episodes and are still my go-to choice for medicinal TV

Fandom is a wonderful escape from all the shit out there. I love online fandom and how I've met some awesome people. I love going to conventions. And I love evenings like Sunday where me,
charlies_dragon,
davidbrider and
tlanti sat in the bar and talked and geeked out for HOURS

Chocolate... what can I say, I'm a self-confessed chocoholic. Well, a girl's got to keep the dementors away somehow, right? lol

Losing myself in a good book is sadly something Depression takes away from me far too easily as it strips my ability to concentrate but a good book is an amazing thing. Best book I've read this year is probably The Martian by Andy Weir and I'm currently reading Astrophysics For People In A Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson

Roadtrips, especially if they are with good friends and take me to conventions and/or concerts. I'm that person who thinks nothing of following a band around the country for a week or two, or of jumping in Lotte and driving to Germany because it's cheaper than flying. One of my favourite memories of my trip stateside last year was when
phantisma and I drove from San Francisco to Vancouver!

Exploring a castle is probably not the best past time for someone with mobility issues but you can guarantee I will damn well climb that tight spiral staircase and do the wall walk *grins* I'm a sucker for the War Of The Roses/Tudor eras

Live Music - I've been known to say that 'front row centre' is one of my favourite places to be and I know I've talked about my love of music and being able to just... let go and let the music sweep me up and take me away and nothing else matters at that moment. To quote Simple Plan 'fuck tomorrow I just wanna jump!'

Curling up on my couch - What can I say, I'm a homebody and an introvert and I seriously freaking love my flat - or, my nest, as I tend to call it.

Natalie says I also have to include 'geeky science stuff' because I do geek out over human biology and genetics and astronomy and omg hands on science museum are so much fun but then so are natural history museums. If my life plan had gone to... plan, I would have studied a BSc in The History Of Science, Medicine and Technology because honestly that whole branch just fascinates me!
