I've just finished reading Animal Farm. It was one of those books that I knew the general storyline of but I'd never actually read it. So when I saw it sitting on the shelf in the library on Thursday I jsut grabbed it - Ninety Eighty Four was there and I grabbed that too.
A very strange thing to say but the first thing that struck me about it was how short a book it was. And how easy it was to read. You know how some books are overly-wordy and convuluted and you have to really CONCENTRATE to read it? I was expecting that because of the subject matter and was pleasantly surprised that it was a 'normal' read.
The important thing? I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and am really glad I finally got round to reading it.
Next up is a DK book. Big Ideas That Changed The World.
Yes its ostensibly a kids book but I ADORE the DK books. I always think they have just the right balance of information, I love the tone of writing and the layouts are always fun.
There's also the fact it's a history of science/technology book and that is such my weak spot. I'm really looking forward to picking it up and diving in.
Who knows what I'm going to learn?
