So... this happened yesterday and to say I'm on a wee bit of a high might be somewhat of an understatement!
Right now, I am in pain and I am exhausted beyond belief but it was utterly incredible and I keep just repeating to myself 'I met Amanda Tapping' because I can't quite believe it yet
Friday
whiskyinmind came down from Scottishland because she was tasked with holding my hand and keeping me safe and sane for our visit to Collectormania. Down the M6 and M1 we toddled to Milton Keynes, finding a pretty awesome parking space. I'd spoken to Showmasters previously about accessibility so we picked up our queuejump passes and started wobbling around the place, both of using finding FAR too much that we wanted to purchase but could not afford. I was getting complimented on my "I'm stuck on a glacier with MacGyver" t-shirt which was pretty damn awesome.
Then... well then we hit the end of the hall where the autograph tables were, and I saw Amanda and it's entirely possibly my brain just... short-circuted and I forgot to breath and started shaking. We went over, jumped into the queue and I'm shaking SO much that it's probably good I had my crutches to hold me up. Especially when Amanda giggles and tells me she loves my t-shirt.
I managed to speak. There were words, that came out in order and made sense. I was able to tell her what Stargate meant to me and how it had helped me over the last 18 months - how it was my happy place. I was thanking her for being part of the healing process. And she gave me the biggest hug and a kiss on the cheek and there were lots of tears and she stroked my tattoo.
I came very close to a panic attack as we walked away. I was shaking so hard and my heart was racing and my brain wasn't working. And there were people everywhere, and I couldn't breath. So we got outside, sat down and I had a couple of moments. I caught my breath, flailed some more and we people-watched and admired some incredible cosplay.
In epically good timing, we managed to meet up with
davidbrider, did even more shopping we couldn't afford, then David got his auto from Amanda while I propped up the wall. There was food at Frankie & Benny's, THE most annoying waiter ever, and paying for £40 worth of food in the smallest denomination of coins we could manage. Followed by more shopping. I got myself the most amazing hand-crotched Hello Dalek, a vampire!Willow and vampire!Xander print to go with Spike on my living room wall and a Star Wars 'See the galaxy, join the Imperial Navy' poster. I DID also manage to get the one thing I'd been hoping to get, which was an S4K 'Little ripples create big waves' shirt so yay.
Sadly, by this point I was fast running out of ability to be on my feet - despite a couple of 50mg diclofenac, so we headed upstairs to the balcony and found a seat. Just rested, chatted and people watched until it was time for our photo ops. Get in the queue and start shaking again. *headdesk* I was not give an option at having a hug from her, and you can kinda see in the photo exactly how tightly she was holding me. I had a slight 'oops that wasn't my outdoor voice' moment when I told her she was gorgeous and oh the smile... *melts*
Now though, Sho has gone home and I am sitting with my legs up. I had a soak in a hot bath which was heaven on my hips and back. I've got my TENS unit on my back and a some minty chocolate fudge. I'm now going to hibernate until Thursday morning, when I toddle to London to collect my
ravensword from Heathrow
