Relic, by Tom Egeland

I've just finished reading Relic by Tom Egeland. Now, since it's described as 'The Norwegian Da Vinci Code' I kinda knew what I was letting myself in for, I wasn't expecting literature, just a fun read. And that's what I got.

But, oh, I was chatting to
ravensword on the train home the other night as I was reading and I said to her "... I think Daniel Jackson just wandered into the book I'm reading. The archaeologist has a theory that the Egyptian pyramids are spaceships..."
Followed moments later by "Oh sorry, no. The pyramid was built over a spaceship... A landing vessel for a larger mothership and the Egyptian believed it was sacred" and "Oh the aliens brought humans here"
Sounds familiar, no?

These are the passages from the book:
"No, no, you misunderstand. The Pyramid of Cheops was constructed over the spaceship," Winthrop says.
"So you are asking me to believe that the Pyramid of Cheops was built over a prehistoric space shuttle?" I say slowly.
"Let me reiterate - a spaceship. We presume it was one of the landing vessels for a larger mother ship orbiting the Earth"
"They believed the spaceship was sacred, the heavenly ship of the gods"
"Maybe the spaceship never planned to go back. Maybe its misson was to bring a group of beings here, obviously ones who resembled humans, who would stay here on Earth," he suggests
"And what were they going to do here?"
"Maybe they wanted to colonise our beautiful planet?"

Yeaaaaah. *giggles*
