And not just today, either. The last 26 hours, to be completely precise.
The interview yesterday was... not an overwhelming success. It was a panel interview - my boss, his boss (both of whom love me!), S from HR and another IRW director called F (who seriously freaked me out, just sat there with his arms crossed and STARED). It was also scarily formal and rigid. There were a couple of questions I know I did really well on, and it was interesting seeing how much of the additional work T had been throwing at me was relevant to the interview! But there were a couple of questions I was completely stumped on and had no clue how to answer.
Not sure how to take it, other than to keep my fingers crossed and see what the outcome is. I'm supposed to hear at the end of the week - I did however confirm with my boss that not being successful in the interview will NOT be the end of my temp role there.
Fast forward to this morning. Someone threw up some roadworks in Telford overnight, so I missed my first train. The next train to Birmingham was late due to signal failures and a broken down train. I was juuuuust in time to catch the train to London but didn't have chance to grab breakfast... and there was no catering service on board. By the time I got to London I was starving and dying for a drink.
Throw in the fact I've also come down with a stinking cold and I was pretty miserable by the time I got to the office! I'm coughing and sneezing, my nose is running. My head feels like it's stuffed with cotton wool. My eyes are all bloodshot. My throat is scratchy. I'm running a fever. I want my bed.
To make matters worse, I had an allergic reaction to my lunch. A couple weks ago, on the train home from Birmingham, someone sat next to me with a lovely thing of nachos from Mi Casa. I knew there was one round the corner from the London office so I toddled round and got me some. And two bites later had to take allergy meds.
*sigh*
Mind, that's three things so it can only get better from here, right?
interview,
work,
travel,
health
