One more day up in the canyon

Mar 30, 2013 13:59

It's been a good Saturday so far. I was up nice and early, got to ASDA before it was too busy. Somehow managed to spend £35 which is a bit bzuh but oh well. I have plenty of stuff for stirfrying and crudites and am gonna try and make a chili-less chili at some point this week... replace the chili powder with cumin and coriander (favourite spice combination? yes i think so hehe).

I went into town, went to the bank, the post office. Made a hairdressers appointment for next weekend. Went to the City Museum, said hullo to
weaselett, went to the library then wandered along by the Lune to the Maritime Museum.

I was mostly interested in an exhibition on there: Visions of the World
New lands and cultures have always propelled travellers, explorers and scientists to the far corners of this earth, but not until relatively recent times has this fascination coupled with photography produced such lasting and captivating insights. This exhibition provides a glimpse of the Royal Geographic Society’s vast collection and reflects on the artistry of the photographers
So VERY glad I went... it was fascinating. The photos of Tibet, The Himalayas, Antartica... I loved them.

I had a little mooch around the museum itself and will definitely be going back there and having a proper look around. It's in the old Port House and warehouse, and has displays on shipbuilding, fishing, the canal, etc.
I also picked up a metric tonne of leaflets about other museums/galleries/attractions in the area so will definitely be going exploring... getting out of the house, learning stuff. *nods*
