I finished my contract at Handicare Accessibiity on the 14th and, to be honest, was looking forward to a couple weeks off over Christmas before starting to look for work in the new year - permanent work up
weaselett's way and temp work down here.
Apparently, that was not to be. I got a phone call from an agency yesterday "Can you start at Akzo Nobel tomorrow?"
I didn't even get chance to complete my application for Unemployment Benefits!
Three month purchase ledger contract, they said. Industrial location, they said. 37 hours a week they said.
I think the only thing they got right was the type of role! It's a six month contract, 40 hours a week in a shiny new office on a shiny new business park. And it's a £1 an hour pay rise. Or, a £40 a week pay rise. *does a happydance*
In typical new job fashion, IT hadn't finished setting up my access when I got there so I got the induction, tour of the building and got spend a fun few hours filing. The canteen is still being built (I said new, right?), so lunch was at desk and the afternoon spent inputting invoices.
Ah, SAP, I missed you. I was a little rusty - haven't used it for a few months - but after about 20 minutes, it all came back to me.
It's a small office and they're not overly chatty but its a nice level of busy - and I don't have phones ringing constantly. If the first day is anything to go by, it'l be a good contract.
Of course, that could all be a moot point because tomorrow I'm heading up to Morecambe for a job interview!
