My journey's underway

I swear the only possible explanation for how I'm feeling right now is that I'm getting old. A few years ago it was so much easier to have an early morning, a day at work and then a late night, then get up and go to work. This morning I feel SO fuzzy it's bloody ridiculous though.

Mind, the Jason gig was bloody awesome - even if half our usual suspects were missing... and missed *pouts*

I wasn't supposed to have been at the gig, and I'd told Jason at A6 that I probably couldn't make it and he just looked SO disappointed that I swore to myself then and there that if I had to fucking walk to Dirty Dicks to get there, that I would.
I looked at public transport from Bracknell - could get there, but not back.
I looked at hiring a car - was cheaper to drive down from home.
I basically told work that either I drove myself down this week or I took the week off. They were all 'we cant pay you your mileage because we're providing transport' and i'm like I DON'T FUCKING CARE, I'M GOING TO LONDON REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I'M GOING THERE FROM TELFORD OR BRACKNELL
Last Thursday, it was decided that I can have my mileage paid, so yay.

The journey from Bracknell to Dirty Dicks on the map was quite straight forward - basically a straight line from the M4 to Shoreditch High Street. 41 miles. And I had two and a half miles to do it in, should be fine.
HAH!
There was a standstill at Windsor, because of an accident but it was only for 5 minutes.
There was a huge smash just past Heathrow... we're talking it took an hour and a half to do ONE MILE - a truck had hit a car sending it into another car *wince*
Once we got past that, it was plain sailing... until Hammersmith flyover, where, yup, there was another accident.
*headdesk*
At this point its like quarter past seven, doors are in 15 minutes and I'm starting to realise exactly where I'm going to be driving through and trying not to freak about because omg i'm driving past Harrods and down Shaftesbury Avenue etc etc
I did absolutely fine until I got to Picadilly Circus (meep! flail!) and there was a broken down bus blocking half of the lanes. I was so busy concentrating on the road and other drivers that I wasn't paying attention to where I was supposed to have been going that I took a wrong turn and by the time I'd realised, I'd gotten completely turned around. I then literally spent the rest of the journey with Sterling 2.0 on my lap, gmaps turned on with my route showing and at every set of red lights, I'd re-triangulate and update the route!

I got there though, just after 8 o'clock to cheers (and pepsi!) from Susan and Cassie <3 I got sat down and Jason started... *g* second gig this year where it looks like it's literally waited for me to get there to start teehee.

I tell you though... the smile from Jason and the hugs I got. He was all "I didn't think you were coming," and when I told him about the journey I'd had and oh the hug and "I'm so glad you came"
*melts*

Definitely worth all the joint pain I'm having right now <3
