It's wet out there... been that way all day... just... damp... smells damp...
I am now unofficially done with this semester.. a weight is lifted.. now I can focus on... ... ... ... ...I don't know... People will be starting to leave soon.. and I'll be left here alone for a time... though Scott may be around..
Speaking of Scott.. he is all sorts of ill today... I'll leave it at that... I'm ill also, just a light head cold.. nothing serious.. a lil nyquil and it's all better.. except for one thing... my meds and Nyquil don't mix well... I forgot about this.. this explains why I was out of wack last night... They do fucked up things to my dreams.. make my nightmares even more nightmarish... which would appear to be a real word...
Hung out with Alex a bit this evening... that girl amuses me... gonna miss her for the month she is gone.
Freedom has a meaning for me... ...came across an interesting idea about freedom... basically.. freedom means nothing without oppression. Basicly... the idea of freedom.. liberty.. are meaningless unless you've been oppressed... this may be why the American people don't know what it means to be free.. to have liberties.. why people are willing to give them away for a blanket of false security... The "founding fathers" were, according to history... will and ready to die for freedom.. fight and kill for it. I know the revolution is romanticized.. and we are all taught how they fought for freedom from tyranny... yet... how many of us are will to do the same? I mean.. we have people joining the army who are... and I applaud them.. but do they really fight for freedom? or simply for an empire who claims to be for freedom.. an Empire founded on the principles of freedom and liberty... Can such a thing really exist? Do you ever realize how many freedoms we've lost since the foundation? The states have lost massive potency since the Civil War... for one thing... And yeah, what ever happened to state's Rights? That's what the south was fighting for... and I think they were right... It had really quite little to do with slaves... It was about a way of life.. and other states telling them how to live.. taking away their freedom. Yeah, Slavery is deplorable, and ethically wrong... but... was it not up to the South to deal with it on their own, to abolish it on their own? hmm... I postulate that by making the civil war about slavery, in the histories.. we have done more damage for equality then if we were honest about it being about state's rights.. But if we acknowledged that the civil war was about state's rights, and not about morality of slavery... we'd have to recognize.. that.. the South was right... Though the question of whether they could legally leave the Union is another matter. I believe the law was not on their side there.. but.. then again.. neither was the law on the side of the revolutionaries of old.. those mythic founding fathers... So was it not implied by the very actions of the founding of our nation to state that all states of government should have the right to leave and be their own Nation State... We ourselves as a nation had the policy of Self Determinism for a long time in regards to other nation states. Especially after WW1...
I think I'm going to stop there. I don't advocate bloody revolution.. just putting forth ideas... but I do believe in Self Determinism...
On a final unrelated note simply being left for me as a reminder later... Truth and reality are not the same things... and are not use clearly... to often abused, as terms, to fit the needs other those who wish to justify them selves.. We don't make our reality.. but we do interact with reality... but our perceptions of it are all different, and we can change how we perceive reality.. but my "believing" that my water glass isn't there won't make it any less there, and full of water...
I seem to be being very contemplative and philosophical lately... based on my past history in this mode... this isn't necessarily a good thing...
