So every year for the last five years....

SouthLAnd gives us a handful of amazing episodes (year one, seven eps, year two, six eps, year three, four and five, 10 eps each), and I sit in wonder at the fact that NOBODY really watches this show, that the ACTORS don't get any EMMY love, even though they are FRAKKING amazing, and the writing is incredible. I mean, INCREDIBLE.

Last night was the S5 finale--and as always, the possible SERIES finale, because no one ever knows if the show will come back, and it was, as always, so good. It aptly showed the motivation and process of each character, it gave you reason to empathize with each of them, even if you don't agree with them, and I was struck anew at what an overwhelming underrated show it is.

So, this is my personal tribute, because what else can I do? Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Ben McKenzie, Regina King and Co. are fabulous. It's been two seasons since Kevin Alejandro's character Nate was killed, and yet there's this fabric of him still there with Shawn's character of Sammy, and the way the show ended last night, there is NO telling where it could go from here (Lydia and Russ, finally!) and the odds that I won't ever get to see them again is so tangible it hurts.

I just love that show, and you all should watch it. So, so, so good.
