Heh, Damon certainly is a special occasion kind of tool. I liked the way you wove in hints of the incest vibe that permeates Rebekah and Klaus's relationship (I mean, it's practically canon at this point) and how Damon reacted. Great story!

As I don't support the incest thing, and would never write it, it seemed impossible not to side-eye it somewhat through this. As shipperjunkie said, when they break up right in front of you, it's pretty hard to ignore. ;-)

Damon is a special occasion tool. And so, so, so funny. Love that guy.

Yeah, it was momentary, although an awful lot of fun. It was for a challenge, and I don't see me writing them a lot, but you never know when inspiration will strike!

I would like to see Damon get a real other storyline, separate from Elena. So this was fun to explore since I'm sure that will never happen on the show.

I LOVED EVERYTHING IN THIS FIC.

Damon just snorts into his glass. "Ric would be thrilled that my attention isn't still on Elena, trust me."

Meredith sets her empty tumbler down on the bar top. "Sure it's not." She leaves him sitting there alone, and he can't help but know that's exactly what Ric would have said.

I loved the section with everyone's reactions to his new girlfriend. Just great. And Ric, reaching out, from beyond the grave, of course. *moment of silence*

I have a special kind of hatred for Rebekah but if the show wrote her like you did here, I think I'd actually like her. Not to say that she was OOC in this fic - not at all - but you focused on the ways in which Rebekah is a 1,000-year-old vampire, rather than an emotionally stunted 16-year-old girl.

I really reallyappreciate that, as the show tends to present her almost universally as you wrote her in the final moment when Damon 'breaks up' with her.

Tbh, when I read the synopsis for this I was like...wha? Damon would never hook up with Bex now. Not after what happened in 3x22 ( ... )

Going into it, I decided that Rebekah wouldn't be expecting Damon to actually care about her -- she learned her lesson about that, so they were on more even ground this time around. And by giving her that vantage point, and then Damon's natural generosity, they were able to be total equals in their not-relationship ( ... )
