Got home from work and saw this, what a lovely surprise to come home to. Seeing a fic post from you always brings a smile to my face, especially on days like today where my car battery was dead and nobody seemed to remember how to act right. :)

So basically I'm pretty much in love with this whole chapter, really, every bit of it makes me have all kinds of feels. Here, have some reactions:

Suddenly, it feels like everything will be just fine.
Awww, right off the bat.

I just love the family dynamic you capture here, even though tensions are strained. Even though we only caught maybe a little glimpse of it on the show, it seems totally plausible and very them.

"Wait," Damon says, holding up a hand. "Which James Bond? Because seriously, I've been around for all of them, and if it ain't Sean Connery, it better be Daniel Craig, because the rest are shit."
AND
"You know, just because you're staying here doesn't mean you get to boss everyone around."

Damon mutters something that sounds distinctly like, "The hell it doesn't,"

Bust out laughing and spooked Oliver. Teasing! Joking! Damon! <3

She's always been like that, able to endure a lot and then suddenly she just hits the wall and stops, sleeps for 16 hours straight, before going out and dealing with everything again. ELENA. And Jeremy recognizing her strength. And Damon carrying her up the stairs, and we don't see him come back, so hmm.

"Let's go see my grandbaby,"
:((((

Damon blinks and then shrugs. "Okay," he repeats. "Call me if you get into trouble."
:))))

AND THEN HE LETS JEREMY TAKE HIS CAMARO. There's a callback to that one time where he murdered him. <3<3<3 I'm a weirdo.

He thinks maybe that's what Damon wants, too, even if he'd never really say it.
I love how Jeremy is SO Team Damon.

Because they can obviously see each other, both start crying And She pleads with her grandmother, explains how alone she feels, and that if she were to lose her best friends she's not sure that she could go on.

And the whole rest of the scene. :'-[ There's something in my eye. I'm not crying or nothin'.

Those Bennett women-they're almost as freaky as the Petrovas."

HEE! :>

The next moment is like a slow motion scene in a movie, because both Elena and Damon descend on him-one looking to protect, the other to annihilate-and before he knows exactly what's happened, Elena's teeth-fangs-are deep in his hand.

This whole scene is so well done and I can see it perfectly in my head. Jeremy cutting himself, Elena and Damon moving simultaneously, Elena and Jeremy's reactions, and of course, Jeremy+Damon's entire sniping convo ending with an offer of his blood that Jeremy recognizes as an apology from Damon.

Through the window, Damon flips him off. That, somehow, makes everything all right again.
I like want to hug you.

"Maybe I'll just need you forever, then," Jeremy says with a smile.
OH MY GOOD GOD. :'-[[[[

Their whole scene was lovely, so them, funny and poignant and the love they feel for one another and their concern for Elena and faith in Damon JUST ALL THE FEELS. <3

Just to put your dirty mind to ease, Damon didn't do anything to Elena when he put her to bed. I mean, maybe he kissed her forehead. For sure he brushed his fingers over her cheek. Then he came downstairs and told Jeremy that she had agreed to trying the Damon Salvatore Kool-aid :D

The whole Bonnie thing got me when she started talking about Elena and Caroline. Like, oh, OT3 sistas forever. It just really pierced my heart.

I loved Jeremy and Damon have a fight. It was just...so, ungh. I mean, it really hurt Jeremy for Damon to be mean to him, and that surprised me, but then I realized, come on, he really thinks they're buddies now! But they're still boys, they aren't going to get too touchy feely. So Jeremy had a dad-scene with Ric instead :D
