So, as of today, we still have subject lines, it looks like!*
[*to clarify, I thought we wouldn't have subject lines for posts as well as comments to posts, thus my somewhat upbeat remark]
Hey everyone. There's been a lot of upheaval around LiveJournal -- people threatening to leave because of the changes going on, talk of no subject lines anymore, Dreamwidth letting anyone join without an invite code...
The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming!
Anyway, I don't know if all this has to do with Russia's continual fight for free speech that LiveJournal is very much a part of (that I have selfishly in the past been irritated about because I couldn't get online to play in my fangirl sandbox), but I hope that LiveJournal remains usable and user-friendly, and that my life doesn't have to change. I don't really like change, and I've been on LJ for more than five years. It's an old friend to me at this point, very much one of the things I look forward to every day.
But sometimes, even good things have to come to an end, thus I got an account over at Dreamwidth just in case (I'm badboy_fangirl there, too), and I just got my invite for Archive of Our Own (HERE I AM) so I posted one of my stories over there to get the hang of it. I will be using that from now on to post fic, and I'll just link things back to LJ most likely. The Dreamwidth thing is a precautionary measure, the Archive thing I was planning on doing anyway.
At any rate, I hope to be able to continue using LJ -- Dreamwidth looks much the same, but the idea of uploading all my icons, my moodthemes, etc., learning to navigate over there, and trying to figure out the journal style that would let me have my own header banner fills me with anxiety, no joke. I know how to use LJ, I don't want to have to learn a new one!
Archive of Our Own is SUPER USER FRIENDLY, however, so that's a GIANT + for me. I will enjoy uploading my stories over there!
I'm going out of town for Christmas (leaving Saturday morning) so I won't be around for a few days. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday. May the Spirit of Christmas rest over you and all those you love! ♥
