then I'll continue reading this forever, because it's the two of them together. (A little "If it's Love" by Train covered by Meg for you :P) Also, first comment, woohoo!!! I feel like one of those guys who comment on youtube videos just to be the first comment and I'm okay with it because I'm currently overjoyed at the idea that not only was this chapter AH-MAZING but there is 50,00+ words to it all!!!! It's like crack for Delena lovers. Seriously though Candy, your writing will never cease to amaze me. I really like how you started us off on this first chapter. It's set us up for what I KNOW will be an epic Delena story. I'm off to read chapter two! :D xoxox Meg

The flow in the beginning is just right. You touch upon the important things in Elena's mind and relate it beautifully. Having her holder tighter to Stefan through that confusing part of her life, followed quickly by showing that her actions in Atlanta made her realize things about herself was so poetic and just felt right and believable.
Elena decides right then that she won't do anything to break that trust, not tonight. It's too precious when there is no confidence, when there is nothing but strife.
Such a beautiful insight into Elena, showing early that she understood Damon on a deeper level than anyone else.
Her fear for Stefan is what first forces her into the tomb, but her fear for Damon is what sends her back.
It's wonderful how you wove her feelings for both brothers into this story without dimishing the importance of either.
Not just about how he feels about his brother, but that he also understands what she feels-how helping Stefan isn't just something she does, but is something she needs to do.I just adore

...the fact that Damon, who would never admit to feeling anything at all, is only inches from her plainly showing how relieved he is that she's alright and how much he wants her in his arms, rather than his brother's, makes Elena close her eyes so she doesn't have to deal with it.
You are so good at provoking such emotional responses from me, Candy. I'm seriously sniffling & blinking the tears from my eyes reliving that gut-wrenching moment. What you wrote is exactly what I want to believe was going through Elena's mind at that moment.
It's easier for him, she understands, but she can't, as much as she's tried.
Elena's tenacity and refusal to leave a friend who needs her are 2 of her traits that make me love her. Thanks you for putting them out there for all to see.
He barely tips his chin down in acknowledgment, but his eyes blaze with something that makes her tremble. Then he says, "You're not going to die."
Succinct, powerful, concise. Damon's intensity and devotion to her sends tingles down my spine.

You know, in some ways, when you are deep in the OTP, you forget that the actions of the individual are not just because of how they feel about the other half of the OTP--and you remind me of that here by reminding me that Elena steps in front of the bullet for all of her friends; doing it for Damon is perfectly natural for her simply because of the person she is.

LOL, my awesomeness. It's the characters, really! But thank you.
This chapter was hard because I needed enough Stefan in there to be believable, but I wanted it to feel like a growing wave of Damon/Elena so that the slap to the face at the end when she's realizing what she feels for him would feel right. The lines that stand out to you help me really see that the effect worked, at least for you! Thank you.
Loved that you captured the battle that goes on inside Elena as she struggles to understand / face her feelings for Damon against his actions, her beliefs and all the outside forces. I am so looking forward to reading this story.
Thank you so much. I'm glad it felt like a battle--I wanted it to feel like the struggle it is for her to come to the conclusion she doesn't want to face, and can only begin to face when she thinks she might lose him forever.
my goodness this is off to a BRILLIANT start!!! =o
I love how you relieved every one of their signifigant expereinces this far, and how slowly, but surely, Elena's feelings for his evolve into something she almost deliberately refuses to label (y)

When a man who loves has nothing to direct that love to, and only hate and anger and wrath to spill upon the world.
Damon in a nutshell!
