I've been thinking a lot about Stefan's past. I get so sick of the whole Damon's evil- stefan's past isn't as bad as what Damon's done- nope. Sorry. I Have never believed that. They are both dark and twisty. Both have been monsters- and I think that Stefan is an absolute addict- and has gone "off the wagon" many times but I believe that he hasn't in the last 50 years or so... But that it's always been there- lurking like any addiction.

I'm also interested in finding out exactly when Damon started giving into his murderous rampage impulses. He sure didn't seem all that thrilled about it when he was just starting out...

And this may be a little off topic- but what are your thoughts about who built the boarding house? I'm thinking about writing a piece about when it was being built- and if our boys had any imput into it... I keep thinking that Stefan started it as a "I'm getting sober and am trying to make amends with my now bitterly vicious killer of a brother" project- but Damon chipped in monetarily thus ensuring he always got the biggest bedroom. Lol.

I think with Damon as the anger built inside him towards Stefan, he just shut off his feelings. I don't know that he ever killed more than he needed to survive, though he did enjoy the hunt or the ploy of laying in the road until someone stopped. All the same a couple of people here and there between girls he seduced for their blood (and then compelled them to forget) is way different than what Stefan has admitted to doing.

I think Damon's murderous rampages more often consisted of solitary victims, just as we've seen. The one time we saw him kill numerous people was when he killed Vicki's friends in the woods behind the cemetery, and that was because he'd been desiccating in the basement for several days. Well, and he was PISSED at Stefan. :D

As for the Boarding House, I just assumed it had been built by Giuseppe, and had been a source of income for the family. At some point their house and estate were destroyed--after they became vampires and Giuseppe was dead--and then then started staying at the BH when they came home to visit. In 1x10 Stefan says everything important to him was kept in his bedroom at the BH, which makes it very old. That would be a cool backstory though--your idea is totally plausible. And I think Damon's big bathroom would have been build on a renovation at some point, after indoor plumbing became more common.

Re: the Boarding House. I got the impression that Damon had a larger claim on the BH than Stefan. Doesn't Zack say something to Damon about it being Damon's house? Plus, Damon is the one who hands the deed over to Elena. He's the one who knew where the papers were. I can't really see Damon having it built though, and I seem to remember Stefan saying that it wasn't done yet back in 1864--which suggests it was either under construction or was built later. It would make sense for Giuseppe to have at least started construction on it, since taking boarders seemed to be something that the Salvatores would do. IDK. I wish the show would clear that up for us.
