Isn't fandom an interesting animal?

First, let me *wave* to my newest friends via the damon_elena friending meme. I'm very excited to have more DE lovers on my f-list, because as you're about to find out, I'm OBSESSED.

Secondly, I'm coming up on my five year mark on LiveJournal. I got my journal in the summer of 2006 because of my then-obsession with Prison Break. I'm proud to say that lots of my current LJ friends are from that era. We've passed through other fandoms together, or in some cases, just remained friends based on the love we once shared for our first fandom. It's curious to me how many of those gals have stuck with me and my obsessively annoying ways all these years, but I love them and treasure them, and whenever I do friends-cuts, they are never on the chopping block.

But here's the funny thing: remember my brief foray into the Glee fandom? It started in the fall of 2009 and escalated in 2010 only to implode somewhere last winter with the suckiness of the show. Of course, I picked up a bunch of friends during that time, but only a couple of them have become bosom friends. I just wonder what that's about.

Because the friends I've made because of The Vampire Diaries? Some of the coolest, most interesting people EVAH. I keep getting surprised by how great they are and how much I love them. It must have something to do with what kind of people Ian Somerhalder and the Damon/Elena ship attracts, because they are all these people that I adore. [Hopefully the feeling is mutual!]

And yesterday I picked up a few more, and I got all these cool gifs:

(I don't even watch TBBT, but I love this gif.)

"we people" [my favorite Tyler moment from S1]

Nina's face is priceless.

I'm going out of town today after work for a long weekend away and a friend's wedding. Probably won't be around much. So see you all Monday night at the TVD Rewatch!
