That makes me lean toward thinking that they were always planning on having Damon become the romantic hero of the story.

Not that I recall. I doubt he weighs enough to pick her up. He's so skinny!

Heh. They did have a stunt guy pick her up for the kissing in... 1x15? But Paul was hurt that episode.

It definitely seems to be a Damon-only thing. I can't recall Stefan ever carrying her.
